Rebecca Harrington
Intrapreneur - Community and Social Innovation
Rebecca Harrington is a Community & Social Innovation Intrapreneur with a background in community development, project management, and environmental leadership. She holds Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) and Masters (Social Work) degrees from Massey University where she studied neighbourhood relationships.
For several years she worked in Auckland Council’s Waste Solutions department, supporting Aucklanders to become zero waste and led the award-winning approach to engagement for the rukenga kai (food scraps) service rollout. She brings expertise from working across NGO, private and public sectors and leading community wellbeing initiatives (such as Neighbours Aotearoa and IT start-up Neighbourly).
Her whānau roots extend from the UK, Newfoundland, and Fiji. She came to Aotearoa from Canada at a young age with her Canadian mother and Heretaunga-born (Hastings) father. Outside of work she enjoys being with her rugby-dancing daughters, spending time in nature, and watching theatre and live music.
