We enrich the economy for west Auckland through equitable and regenerative economic development initiatives.

The Western Initiative (TWI) was established in 2019 and is part of the Community and Social Innovation department of Auckland Council. TWI is Council’s socio-economic innovation capacity in west Auckland.

We take a strategic overview of economic challenges and opportunities across west Auckland.

We focus on population groups at risk of entrenched, poor economic outcomes.

We find ways to increase the wealth of west Aucklanders who are most disadvantaged in the economy.
